Dr Joeanne Katsikaros
Veterinarian (BVSc (Hons) BSc.)
Joe founded The Grange Veterinary Clinic in 2000, turning an empty building into the caring, nurturing veterinary clinic it is today. Owning her own practice allows Joe to treat clients and their pets with empathy and respect, true to the principles that led her into the veterinary field in the first place.
Joe has been treating the pets of the Illawarra for 24 years. She graduated from Sydney University with both a Bachelor Of Science degree in Zoology and Microbiology as well as her Bachelor Of Veterinary Science degree. She has a keen interest in small animal medicine and surgery, especially emergency and critical care, and finds great satisfaction helping treat injured wildlife and seabirds. In her spare time, she enjoys volunteering with NPWS helping in the monitoring of seabirds and the rehabilitation of Big Island off Wollongong.
Joe believes we should all leave the Earth a better place for us having been in it and is very deeply committed to animal welfare and conservation. She is a member of a number of organisations including VALE, WSPA, Animals Australia, AMRRIC and Dian Fossey International. Joe also sponsors three great kids through Childfund; Agnes in Kenya, in Cambodia and Degefa in Ethiopia.
Joe is finally getting to work ticking things off her bucket list and 2017 sees her fullfilling her childhood dream of travelling to Africa and volunteering with a conservation foundation, Wildlife ACT, as well as playing with the wildlife in Botswana and hanging out with the Gorillas and Chimpanzees in Uganda.
Joe's family includes Claude, her Cockatoo and Charley, her galah, Snakey, her Childrens python and her two goldfish.
In her spare time Joe loves sailing, photography, bushwalking, camping, gardening, reading and generally being anywhere outdoors.
Dr. Sarah Musto
Sarah graduated from the University of Sydney in 1995. Over the past 20 years, she has worked extensively in Sydney and England, before finally settling on the south coast of NSW.
Sarah understands that pets are part of the family and enjoys all aspect of small animal medicine and soft tissue surgery. She has a particular interest in preventative medicine and aged pet care.
Sarah shares her own home with Poppy, a rescue beagle, and 3 Rhode Island Red chickens, Omelette, Donut and Solja.
Sarah and Poppy share a love of long walks, fine food and digging in the garden!
Away from work, Sarah spends her time renovating her 100 year old cottage, hunting down antiques at markets and country towns, and creating a beautiful garden full of flowers and food. It's her aim to one day be self sufficient, living off the land! She also runs a gardening service, encouraging others grow their own food and lead a healthy, happier life.
Veterinary Nurse (Cert 4 Veterinary Nursing)
Sebrena is our wonderful Head nurse and has been with us for over 12 years. Her great love for all animals and enormous heart and empathy is evident to all who meet her. She is definitely the nurse you want beside you in a sticky situation; no catankerous cat ever gets the best of her!
Sebrena lives with her fiance, Phil, and her fluffy side kick, Willow, whose multiple personalities ensure Sebrena's cat handing skills are always up to scratch.
In her spare time, Sebrena has a keen interest in Health and Fitness, is a member of a champion Softball team , enjoys music and generally getting out in the fresh air.
Alfie, is our well loved hospital cat who came to us after a horrific car accident left him paralysed. Everyone knows you can't keep a good cat down, and Alfie made a miraculous recovery leaping back into action and deep into our hearts. Here he has stayed for over 8 years and now enjoys a quieter life basking in the sunshine, meditating and obstructing the receptionist's keyboard as often as possible.
