Microchipping

Ensuring Identification and Reunion

Microchipping is a simple and effective way to provide permanent identification for your pet. The process involves injecting a microchip, approximately the size of a grain of rice, under your pet's skin, typically on their back near the shoulders. This procedure can be done during a regular consultation. The microchip contains a unique code that is specific to your pet, making it the most reliable form of identification. The code is registered on a national database, which proves invaluable in reuniting lost pets with their owners. In certain Australian states, microchipping of pets is now compulsory.

It is important to keep your pet's microchip information up to date. If you move to a new address or change your contact details, remember to update your pet's entry on the pet registry to ensure accurate and current information.

In the event that your pet becomes lost and is taken to a veterinary clinic or animal shelter, a microchip scanner is used to reveal the unique code. The vet or shelter can then access the database to retrieve the owner's name, address, and phone number, facilitating a swift reunion.

If your pet is not yet microchipped, we encourage you to contact us and schedule an appointment to have the microchip inserted. If you come across a lost pet, please reach out to us so we can arrange a scan and help reunite microchipped pets with their worried owners.

Microchipping provides a reliable and permanent means of identification for your beloved pet, offering peace of mind and increasing the chances of a happy reunion if they ever go missing.
