Clinical Pathology

Diagnostic Excellence for Your Pet

Clinical pathology plays a crucial role in veterinary medicine by utilising laboratory evaluations of blood, bodily fluids, and tissues to identify existing diseases. It encompasses a range of tests, including blood chemistries, complete blood counts, clotting times, urinalysis, faecal tests, biopsy examinations, cultures, and infectious disease testing.

At our animal hospital, we are proud to offer an in-house laboratory that enables our veterinarians to perform many of these diagnostic tests quickly and efficiently. This allows for prompt and accurate diagnoses, which are particularly vital for severely ill animals or those in need of immediate or emergency treatment. While some specialised tests may require the services of an external veterinary laboratory, we strive to provide comprehensive testing capabilities within our facility.

With our in-house laboratory, we can deliver same-day results for many tests. However, certain specialised tests may take longer, especially if samples need to be sent to an external laboratory. In such cases, we typically receive blood test results within 12-24 hours, while biopsy results may take up to 14 days, depending on the nature of the test. Your veterinarian will guide you on when to expect your pet's laboratory results and when to follow up.

By harnessing the power of clinical pathology, we are able to obtain valuable insights into your pet's health and provide the necessary care and treatment. We remain committed to delivering diagnostic excellence and ensuring the well-being of your beloved companion.
