  • In addition to more specialised medical and surgical services, we offer every pet comprehensive life-stage appropriate care. Pets and their owners can benefit from our supportive healthcare and nutrition advice, regular health monitoring, annual vaccinations, parasite control programs, microchip implantation, dental and geriatric care programs and regular client communication.
  • The clinic has a friendly, dedicated and experienced team of staff to ensure we can best meet the needs of our loyal client base.
  • Sandown Veterinary Clinic sees a large and varied surgical caseload. Dr Alastair Smith is a highly experienced orthopaedic surgeon and routinely performs repairs to simple and complex fractures, ruptured cruciate ligaments and stabilisation of patella luxation.
  • Clinic diagnostic resources include ultrasound, digital radiology (x-ray) and a large range of in-house pathology equipment.  Our other specialised equipment includes a dental machine that allows for scaling, polishing and tooth extraction.
  • The clinic has a well-respected reputation in the specialised area of canine reproductive technologies for over 20 years.  We are proud to maintain a very high success rate. In addition to a high caseload of Greyhounds we welcome all dog breeds. Our facilities allow us to work with Chihuahuas to Great Danes. We are proud of the fact that our clients include a wide range of show breeders, the Victoria Police Dog Squad and the Department of Immigration and Border Control.
  • While we have a solid reputation as a dog clinic, we also love caring for our feline friends. Dr Jessica Rossi is passionate about treating cats and is very experienced in diagnosing and managing common feline problems such as kidney disease, and urinary tract infections.
  • Sandown Veterinary Clinic (SVC) is proud to have established the highly successful Greyhound Adoption Program over 20 years ago. Our staff love the greyhounds as a dog breed and actively promote greyhounds as pets. We are currently providing sponsorship, services and provides support to greyhound adoption programs such as the Greyhound Adoption Program, Greyhound Safety Net, Gippsland Greyhounds, Greyhound Rescue Victoria and Gumtree Greys.
  • SVC provides a mobile clinic services to the racetracks at Warrnambool and Traralgon. In home litter vaccinations and microchipping is available by arrangement in the City of Casey, Mornington Shire and City of Frankston.
  • We are committed to improving the welfare of greyhounds throughout the stages of reproduction, rearing, racing and retirement.  Dr Alastair Smith has provided professional advice to the industry bodies of Greyhounds Australasia, Greyhound Racing Victoria and the Racing Stewards department.
  • SVC encourages and fosters veterinary interest in greyhound medicine and surgery.  We participate in the professional development opportunities provided by the Australian Greyhound Veterinarians – a professional interest group.   
  • Dr Alastair Smith is a source of knowledge and advice for both new and experienced veterinarians when treating racing greyhounds.
