2. Description of Animals
2.1. The consignment of animals shall be accompanied by a certificate containing a full description or identification of the animals.
2.2. The animal shall be identified using an ISO (Std 11784 & 11785) compliant microchip.
3. Possible Veterinary Certification usually $50
The consignment of animals shall be accompanied by a Veterinary Health Certificate issued by a competent Veterinary Authority of Australia (AQIS) within 7 days of export, certifying that ; included
3.1. The dogs/cats had not been imported into Australia during the six (6) months prior to export. The dogs/cats have been continuously resident in Australia for at least six (6) month or since birth and were at least three months of age prior to export.
3.2. No case of rabies had been reported to have occurred in that country during the last six (6) months prior to export.
More and more pets are travelling with theory owners - but need appropriate rabies vaccination and Hendra virus SNT testing.
Aqis rabies vaccination and Hendra virus SNT test is needed
3.3. The dogs/cats originated from an establishment or farm or premise where no case of Hendra virus has occurred during the last six (6) months prior to export.
3.4. The dogs/cats have been tested for Hendra Virus using Serum Neutralization Test (SNT) at dilution 1 in 2 with negative results, within fourteen (14) days prior to export. Cost test $600 including TNT transport to approved lab overnight in WA
3.5. The animal was vaccinated, within twelve (12) months prior to export against canine adenovirus type 2, canine distemper, canine parainfluenza, canine parvovirus (for dogs), and against Chlamydia psittaci, feline calicivirus, feline panleukopenia and feline rhinotracheitis (for cats). F4 for cats
3.6. The dogs/cats have been examined and found to be healthy and free from any clinical signs of rabies and infectious or contagious diseases of dog/cat, at the time of examination and certification, prior to export.
5. Quarantine in Malaysia
5.1. Upon arrival the dogs/cats shall be placed in approved quarantine for a period of not less than 10 clear days during which the animals shall be subjected to the following measures ;
5.1.1. Vaccinated with approved anti-rabies vaccine Cost about $120 - Rabies vaccination for dogs and rabies vaccination for cats are safe and only a single dose is needed.
5.1.2. Laboratory health tests as deemed necessary.
5.2. The dogs/cats will be released if found to be free of any evidence of clinical diseases.
8. Suspension of Import
The Director General or State Director may at any time when deem necessary to suspend importations from Australia either temporarily or permanently in the event of disease outbreaks or suspected disease outbreaks in Australia or in case of importation in contravention of the above regulations.
9. Right to Amend Import Regulations
The Director General shall amend the above regulations and the fees below at any time, as he may deem necessary.
