Carmen

Veterinarian (Bachelor of Veterinary Science)

Dr. Carmen is the manager of Ballantrae Drive Veterinary Clinic, having graduated from The University of Sydney in 1996. Since then, she has been working in well established and prestigious veterinary hospitals around Sydney such as Casula, Liverpool, Rose Bay, Carlton hospitals as well as Campbelltown hospital where she was part of the very reputable Dr Spot veterinary team.

She has undertaken postgraduate studies in small animal medicine from Murdoch University in Perth, WA, and Distance Education courses in emergency medicine, skin diseases and oncology from The University of Sydney. She gained a wide experience in medical cases including heart disease, skin, hormonal including diabetes control, urinary cases as well as soft tissue surgical cases such as abdominal surgery including cystotomy (bladder surgery), intestinal biopsy, resection and anastomosis, lump removal, aural haematoma repair (ear flap surgery), amputation, eye surgery.

She implemented new features in the clinic such as the use of in-house blood testing laboratory, use of ultrasound and dental xrays.

Dr. Carmen is a member of the Australian Veterinary Association, she is registered with The Veterinary Practitioner Board of NSW and with The Royal College of Veterinary Scientists in UK.

She is actively pursuing further education and training to keep up to date with the latest veterinary practices through the Centre of Veterinary Education of The University of Sydney.

Dr. Carmen also worked a few years overseas as a senior veterinarian and manager in the most prestigious practice in Qatar, where she worked with exotic pets such as cheetahs, baby lions, Marmoset monkeys, racoons, giant and palm-sized turtles, African grey parrots, coatimundi, squirrels and baby chimpanzees. 

During her career, some of her successful cases included: skin graft in a cat elbow, cystoplexy in a cat, nasoplasty in a Persian cat, a rare case of ischemic dermatopathy in a dog, pemphigus case in a dog.

 Dr Carmen has a natural ability to communicate with people from all walks of life and cultural backgrounds and her deep empathy towards clients provides comfort and reassurances in times of grief.

She is welcoming you to the clinic and does her best to resolve your pets issues with integrity, compassion, patience and deep sensitivity towards individual circumstances of each case.

In her spare time, if any, Dr. Carmen is enjoying parenting 2 teenage sons, playing the piano, going for walks and enjoying Roxy, her 5 year old German Shepherd.

Erika

Registered Veterinary Nurse (Certificate IV Vet Nurse)

Erika joined our clinic in April, 2022 and since then, she has proved to be an invaluable member of the team with her hardworking, reliable and pro-active attitude.

Erika has completed Certificate II in animal care and Certificate IV in veterinary nursing.

Erika is passionate about the care and well-being of our patients as well as being eager to learn new things in her career. Her compassionate, empathetic and efficient personality allows her to provide every patient with love and care they deserve.

At home, Erika is taking care of her 2 dogs, Dakota, a Kelpie, and Peaches, an American Staffy cross Bull Terrier as well as her 3 cats, Ginger, Pepper and Pumpkin, her domestic short-haired cats that never leaves her side. She enjoys long hikes with her dogs and visiting waterfalls all around NSW.


Charleyne

Registered Veterinary Nurse (Veterinary Technician Specialist in Anaesthesia and Analgesia)

Charleyne has been working as a veterinary nurse in general, specialist, university & research practices for over 15 years.

She has a Certificate IV in Trainer and Assessor, a diploma in emergency and critical care, and is a veterinary technician specialist in anaesthesia and analgesia. Her passion for teaching is fulfilled by providing mentorship to vets and nurses in clinical settings and undertaking international volunteer trips mentoring new veterinary graduates in the area of anaesthesia.

In her free time, Charleyne enjoys getting out into the great outdoors, camping and hiking. She has two Rottweilers. 

Charleyne has been a great asset to the team through her training seminars, practical advice and hands-on tutorials on anaesthesia and its equipment. We are all very grateful to have her on board.


Abigail

Registered Veterinary Nurse (Certificate IV Veterinary Nursing and Certificate II Animal Care)

Abigail joined our team in December 2023. She completed Certificate II in Animal Care in 2023, and she also successfully completed her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in August 2025. Abigail is now a fully qualified veterinary nurse and a valuable member of our team and her main interests are monitoring patients under anaesthesia and dealing with anaesthetic emergencies.

Abigail is committed to the care and wellbeing of our patients.

Abigail likes to spend her free time reading and going out to exercise, and spending time with her three cats.
