Why microchip your pet?
Anyone who has had a cat or dog go missing knwos how distressing this situation can be! Microchipping you pet is a method to help ensure that if found, your pet can be quickly traced back to you.
Microchips are about the size of a grain of rice and once implanted via needle under your pets skin, provide permanent individual identification. Each chip has a unique number which is entered into a registry along with your address and contact details.
If a pet is ever lost and is handed in at a veterinary clinic or animal shelter a microchip scanner is passed over the animal to reveal the unique code. The vet or animal shelter can then refer to a database to identify the name, address and phone number of the owner, so they can be reunited.
It is important to remember to update your contact details should your circumstances change.
