Animal Care Taker (Cat)

Priscilla (aka Bad Cat) - The Queen Of The Hospital

She is a cat with an attitude. Priscilla turned up one day in the Kingsley Shopping Centre carpark in 2006, and as we were concerned for her safety wandering around the carpark,  we took her in, and she has been a permanent resident at our hospital ever since. She has a constant battle with her weight and is on a perpetual diet. At almost any time of the day, she can be found curled up in her favourite basket in our office, keeping an eye on things.
Likes - food, bossing people and animals around, sitting on top of paperwork, giving you a "swipe" when it is least expected and going on Christmas Leave with her favourite boys.
Dislikes - diets, dogs and small children

Mike Gilmore

Practice Owner (BVMS)

Mike (married to Jane) has been a vet since 1987.

After graduation, he took up a position in Mandurah before moving to the UK,  where he gained experience in a variety of practices across the country. During this time he developed an interest in treatment and disease prevention in small animals as well as in a range of exotic species.

In 1993 he and Jane moved to Dubai to run a mixed practice, dealing with small and large animals in addition to exotic animals from private zoo collections. The practice also had a dedicated falcon and bird hospital. They moved back to Australia in 2002 and resumed management of Kingsley Veterinary Hospital, having purchased the practice in 1997. They both have a strong commitment to the clientèle and pets in Kingsley.

Mike is particularly interested in ophthalmology, orthopaedics and in the care of our older patients.  When not at work he is a keen mountain biker, diver and sailor. He is also passionate about environmental and sustainability issues.

Dr Hsu Ng

Veterinarian (BVMS)

We would like to welcome Dr Hsu Ng to our veterinary team. Dr Hsu is a 1999 Murdoch graduate and has worked in small animal practice in Melbourne and Perth. She has been a sole practitioner for some years and is now enjoying working as part of our team of vets. She is interested in all aspects of general practice and passionate about helping our clients to look after their beloved pets as well as possible.  In her ‘spare’ time she likes playing the piano, hiking, reading books and paint by numbers. She also has a very spoiled cat at home named Luna in addition to looking after two kids and a husband.

Jane Page

Practice Owner (BVMS)

Jane (married to Mike) graduated from Murdoch University in 1986, after wanting to be a vet ever since she was old enough to know that a vet was an animal doctor.  She met Mike at university, and after graduating worked at a veterinary hospital based in Wanneroo for two years.  At that time Kingsley Veterinary Hospital was a branch practice of the Wanneroo clinic, so she worked at Kingsley when it first opened, and there are still some clients who can remember back to that time!

In 1988 Mike and Jane travelled to the UK where they worked as vets all over the UK, including in a large RSPCA clinic in London.  In 1993 they moved to Dubai for “two to three years”, but instead stayed on for almost ten years, and ended up managing the largest private small animal hospital in Dubai for about five years.  Clients included sheikhs with private zoos, dog and cat rescue groups, as well as ex-pats from around the world, which made life very interesting!  However in 2002, with two small children, the Perth lifestyle proved too attractive and they were lucky enough to be able to purchase Kingsley VH from Jane’s previous employer.

Jane is passionate about providing first-class, compassionate care for her patients, working closely with the patient’s owners to deliver the best outcome for everyone.

Deborah Powell

Veterinarian (BVMS)

Debbie graduated in 1985 from Murdoch University Veterinary School with first class Honours and worked at a busy multi-vet practice for 9 years. From then on she has worked part-time concurrently in several small animal practices in Perth while raising 3 children who had multiple sports and hobbies!

She has been part of the Kingsley Vet Practice team for about 15 years, during which time she also tried her hand briefly at teaching at Bentley TAFE and completed a Certificate in Japanese Language. She has a special interest in Client and Patient interaction as well as Soft tissue surgery.

Deb has 2 cats and an active kelpie cross with whom she can be seen pounding the concrete or at the dog beach in the early mornings, when not riding her racing bike.
