Dr Faye McPherson

Veterinarian & Practice Owner (BVSc)

Faye's first passion is her two children, Lewis and Karli, whom she thinks the world of.  She has always been a country girl and loves living in a regional community.  Her daughter has a chronic illness called Cystic Fibrosis so she is also passionate about raising awareness about this debilitating disease and hopes to help fast track a cure within her daughter's lifetime. Cystic Fibrosis is a lot of work for the family and a very worthy charity. It seems to fly under the radar which has meant she bangs the drum whenever possible.

Faye has worked all over Australia since graduating in 1991.  She also has an identical twin sister, Kim, who works as a vet and has her own practice in Mackay, Walkerston and Marian.   Faye worked in Emerald for a year then went to the United Kingdom for 2 & 1/2 years to work and travel before returning to Bowen where she stayed for 2 years and realised how beautiful this part of the world is.  She has worked full-time at Bundaberg for 4 months, Scone for 6 months, Bunbury for 9 months, Kununurra for 3 months, Mt Isa for 2 years, and locumed in Gladstone, Mackay, Proserpine, Cannonvale, Moranbah, Longreach, Cairns, Ayr, Nambour, and Caloundra. She was waiting to meet Mr Right before settling down as she loves to travel.

Faye has always loved animals since growing up on the farm and finds being a vet an extremely rewarding career.  What she most loves about working in Proserpine is the mix of clientele...farmers, retirees, tourists and all in-between. Working with animals is wonderful and never boring. Working in a close-knit community is extremely fulfilling, and the Whitsunday environment is the best in the world!!

Dr Nicole

Veterinarian (BVBio, BVSc MANZCVS (ECC))

Dr Nicole joined the Proserpine Veterinary Surgery team in April 2025 after relocating from the Gold Coast to embrace the relaxed lifestyle and strong community spirit of the Whitsundays. Graduating from University in 2014, Nicole brings with her a wealth of experience, including a strong background in emergency veterinary care.

Passionate about all aspects of veterinary science, Nicole finds great fulfilment in caring for animals and supporting their owners through every stage of their pets' lives. Her calm and compassionate approach makes her a trusted and valued member of our team.

At home, Nicole’s love for animals continues, where she enjoys the company of her two affectionate cats and two adorable dogs. She is excited to be living in the Whitsundays and continuing to grow connections with the community.

We’re thrilled to have Dr Nicole as part of the PVS family!

Spotty

In Loving Memory of Spotty

At the heart of our practice, there are many who make a difference—not only through their work, but through the warmth and spirit they bring each day. Spotty was one of those very special souls.

A beloved companion to our practice owners and a cherished member of our team, Spotty brought joy, comfort, and a sense of calm to everyone who walked through our doors. Whether greeting patients with a wagging tail or simply being a quiet, reassuring presence, Spotty had a unique way of making every day brighter.

Spotty reminded us of the importance of kindness, loyalty, and taking a moment to connect. Though no longer by our side, the memories of that gentle presence and unconditional love remain deeply woven into the fabric of our practice.

We are grateful for the time we shared and will always hold Spotty close in our hearts.

Forever missed, always remembered.

Growing up on a sheep and cattle station near Cunnamulla, Dr Zoe has a strong passion for rural Australia and the vital role veterinary care plays in regional communities. Outside of work, she enjoys running, pilates, cooking, playing tennis, and spending time at the beach with her kids and Maxi.

Joe Cat

Practice Mascot

Joe joined the Proserpine Vet Surgery family in August of 2024, and he has been ruling the clinic ever since. With his one eye, bold spirit, and unmistakable swagger, he has proudly claimed the title of Resident Pirate Cat.

Smoochy yet mischievous, Joe takes his role very seriously. He supervises staff with laser-focused dedication, especially from his favourite post near the back door, where he watches every movement “like a hawk.” No delivery, no sneaky snack, and certainly no staff member escapes his notice.

Joe is a professional belly-rub enthusiast, a serial fur-producer, and a notorious lizard chaser. He firmly believes that any food left unattended is legally his, and he is not afraid to remind the team of this rule. He tolerates dogs with a dignified level of patience — provided they respect his authority, of course.

With his cuddly nature and cheeky pirate charm, Joe brings joy, chaos, and endless entertainment to the clinic every single day.
