Health Checks

Why Are Health Checks Important?

Pets age much more rapidly than humans—on average, five to eight times faster. By the age of two, most cats and dogs have already reached adulthood. By four, many are entering middle age, and by seven, particularly larger breed dogs, they may be considered seniors.

Because pets experience these life stages so quickly, significant health changes can occur in a short period of time. The risk of conditions such as heart disease, arthritis, kidney disease, cancer, diabetes, and obesity increases with age. Early detection is critical, and regular veterinary health checks play a key role in identifying potential issues before they become serious. These appointments allow your veterinarian to diagnose and treat problems early, and in many cases, even prevent health concerns from developing, ensuring the best possible outcomes for your pet.

Annual health checks also provide a valuable opportunity for you to discuss nutrition, behaviour, or any other questions you may have about your pet’s care. By staying proactive, you can help your companion enjoy a longer, healthier, and happier life.
