Daniel Song

Veterinarian (B.V.Sc -Hons- Sydney University-)

Daniel is a core member of the Blacktown Veterinary Hospital team for more than 10 years and has 18 years of veterinary experience. Daniel's lifelong passion is the care for animals. Daniel was born in Sydney and was educated at North Sydney Boys High where he excelled in Biology, coming first in his senior school grade, earned Distinctions four years running in the UNSW Science Competition, and won a Distinction in the Rio Tinto Biology Exams. Daniel graduated from The University of Sydney with honours in Veterinary Medicine.

Awards: Chartered member of Australian Veterinary Association. Completed Post Graduate courses in Feline Medicine, Small Animal Internal Medicine as well as Sonology through Sydney University.

Interests: Small Animal Internal Medicine (particularly feline), Soft tissue surgery, Tropical and Marine fish keeping

Hobbies: 3D Printing, Drone construction, Aquascaping, Bushwalking, Art and spending time with his wife and two daughters and his third child Dash the Maine Coon


Bronwyn Cleasby

Veterinarian (B.V.Sc -Sydney University-)

Bronwyn is the most experienced member of our team with more than 35 years of experience. Dr Cleasby has been a member of staff at Blacktown Veterinary Hospital for over 20 years. Bronwyn is very experienced with a large range of soft tissue and reconstructive surgeries and has a particular interest in canine medicine.

Memberships: Australian Veterinary Association, Australian Small Animal Veterinary Association.

Interests: Soft tissue surgery, Reconstructive surgery, Canine medicine.

Hobbies: Reading, Quilting and exploring Sydney with her daughter.


Sam Ranawaka

Veterinarian (Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine, MSc Melbourne University, Post Grad Diploma in Aquaculture)

A Veterinarian with more than 15 years of experience, Sam has been a member of staff at Blacktown Veterinary Hospital for 2 years. Sam received a scholarship Diploma in Aquaculture in 2003 and later completed her second scholarship to study Master of Animal Science at the University of Melbourne. She also received the John and Jenny Barnett memorial prize for honours project in Animal Welfare at the University of Melbourne in 2011.
Currently Sam is finishing her Taronga Veterinary Professional training in wildlife treatment and care so that she may be able to assist in the treatment of Australian Wildlife during natural emergencies.

Memberships: Australian Veterinary Association

Interests: Small Animal Cardiology and ophthalmology, Small animal Dentistry

Hobbies: Reading, traveling, listening to music, spend time with family


Nakeya

Head Nurse (Certificate 2 & 3 in Animal studies Certificate 4 Veterinary Nursing)

Position - Senior Veterinary Nurse

Experience - Nakeya is a highly skilled, highly passionate Veterinary nurse. Nakeya first starting nursing in 1997 working in the same clinic for 20 years. She also has worked as a Pharmacuetical Representative driving round the state and building strong relationships within the industry for 15 years.  

Qualifications - Certificate 2 & 3 in Animal Studies, Certificate 4 in Verterinary Nursing, Australian Institue of Management "Essential Selling Skills"

Interests - Nakeya is interested in all aspects of nursing. 

Hobbies - Spending time with her family, friends & animals, Netball


Shannon

Veterinary Nurse ( Certificate 2 & 3 in Animal studies Certificate 4 Veterinary Nursing and Hills Puppy Preschool certified)

Position - Veterinary Nurse 

Experience -  Work placement at various clinics since 2016, Kennel hand/ animal attendant, work experience as a canine hydro therapist and doggie daycare attendant. 

Interests - work related interests include animal alternative therapies, rescue and rehabilitation. 

Hobbies - sewing, crafting, decorating my house, listening to podcasts and spending time with my animals and daughter.


Rani

Veterinary Nurse (BMedSci Hons (Sydney University), Master of Conservation Biology -Macquarie University)

Position - Veterinary Nurse

Experience -  Raani has 4 years of experience as a veterinary nurse and over 4 years of experience in medical/conservation research.

Interests - Raani is interested in socialising animals, all aspects of nursing and surgeries.

Hobbies - Spending time with her family, pets and friends. Squishing any animal that comes her way. Sewing, reading, watching horror movies and crime documentaries!


Chloe

Veterinary Nurse (Certificate II & III in Animal Studies, Certificate in Anaesthesia complications, Certificate in managing dental diseases)

Position: Veterinary Nurse 

Experience: Chloe started work experience at Blacktown Vet Hospital 3 years ago and has completed her Wires Wildlife training. 

Interests: Rescue and rehabilitation, Animal behaviour/ psychology, Neonatal care, Surgeries. 

Hobbies: Volunteering at animal shelters, Fostering kittens, going to dog parks / dog beaches with my dogs, spending time with family and friends.


Mike

Veterinary Nurse (Currently studying Bachelor of Veterinary Biology and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Sydney)

 

Experience: Working at Blacktown veterinary hospital as a veterinary nurse since 2014

Interests: Animal health development, Anatomy and psychology, finance

Hobbies: Physical Fitness, Automotive modification and Rare plants

Veterinary Nurse

Experience - Jessie has been at Blacktown Veterinary Hospital for over 2 years

Interests - Small animal ophthalmology, treatment and rehabilitation of stray animals to increase chances for adoption and rehoming. Also all aspects of surgery
