About us

Blacktown Veterinary Hospital was established by Dr Russ Dickens as the very first veterinary hospital in the Western Suburbs. The hospital has more than 60 years of experience treating thousands of dogs, cats, and also animals from the local zoo. Our customers know they can rely on our team for sound advice, expert treatment options, and the very best care and compassion for their pets.

The hospital is located in the heart of Western Sydney and services the small animal pet community of Blacktown and surrounding suburbs. The hospital provides leading veterinary care including radiology, E.C.G, orthopaedic surgery, soft tissue surgery, pathology and histopathology, and specialist referrals. Blacktown Veterinary Hospital understands your needs and offers flexible consultation times, routine annual health checks, vaccinations, microchipping, and desexing.

Dr Dickens was a well respected Veterinarian and served as the Mayor of Blacktown. He was awarded the Order of Australia Medal in 1992 for the treatment of Koalas and received the Key to Blacktown City. He was a good friend and mentor to Dr Daniel Song and Dr Bronwyn Cleasby. The hospital is committed to continuing his legacy of serving the local community.
