Dr Sally Coombs

Veterinarian (B.Sc. B.V.M.S. M.V.S.)

Dr Sally grew up in Sorrento and brought her pets to Duncraig Vet Hospital as a child. Inspired by the tales of ‘All Creatures Great and Small’ it was her childhood dream to become a vet and it is a career that still holds her passion today.

Sally graduated from Murdoch University in 1990 and holds a masters degree in small animal medicine and surgery. Her career has been interesting and varied, enabling her to practice in Perth, outback and regional Australia, UK, New York USA and Asia in general and emergency hospitals.

She enjoys working with all species, including exotics, wildlife, reptiles and the occasional farm animal. Her interests include surgery, canine rehabilitation,  working dog medicine, behaviour, animal welfare and emergency medicine. She takes a holistic approach and loves to volunteer overseas. Sally is passionate about sharing her experience and mentorship with emerging professionals, students and all animal lovers!

Outside of work she is mum to 3 beautiful adult kids and fur mum to 2 big rescue dogs, Lucy and Poppy, to Max the Jack Russell and Little Cat, a Williams feral who isn’t so little any more, and is fur-Grandma to Maple, an american staffy x mastiff. Her menagerie also includes a flock of quails, ponds of fish, the occasional pet lamb and whatever creature finds itself in need of a home! She enjoys travelling, snorkelling, swimming, most beach activities, gardening, permaculture, cooking and music.

Dr Christine Lee

Veterinarian ((B.Sc. B.V.M.S.(Hons) M.V.S.))

After graduating from Murdoch University in 2000 with a Merit Honours, and working in Adelaide for a period of time, Dr Christine joined the Duncraig Vet Family in 2002. She completed her Masters in Veterinary Medicine and Surgery in 2009, and has an ongoing commitment to continuing education.

Dr Christine has a special fondness for cats, and enjoys her in-clinic work with local cat charities.

At home, she enjoys gardening, bush walking, and travelling. As an empty nester, and Mum only to one cat and three chickens, she has had more time to develop her interests in self sustainability.

Dr Christine has established close relationships with her patients, and remains steadfastly dedicated to this community.

Dr Leigh Parker

Veterinarian (B.Sc. DVM)

Dr Leigh studied at Murdoch University and joined the DVH team in early 2022, following practical placements at DVH in the years prior to this. He enjoys all aspects of small animal practice, with special interests in dentistry, soft tissue surgery and animal welfare.

When he's not busy at home with his young family, Leigh enjoys running, cycling, kayaking, snorkelling and family adventures out with the fur-kids. He has two West Highland White Terriers, Wally and Maggie, and a growing aquarium of 20-something fish.

While at DVH, Dr Leigh has enjoyed developing close relationships with his clients and their pets and establishing strong connections within the local community. He is passionate about enhancing the quality and longevity of his patients' lives and nurturing the special bonds shared between them and their human counterparts.

Claudia

Registered Veterinary Nurse (Cert IV Veterinary Nursing)

Claudia graduated in vet nursing in 2022, and has been a member of the DVH team since late 2022 following practical placement at DVH in 2021 and 2022. She also holds certificates in Animal Studies, Grooming and IT. Since 2023 Claudia holds Certificates in Nutrition, Physiology, Behavioural and Training, Pet loss and Grief and Vet Nurse Dermatology.

Claudia has been grooming pets since 2015, working as both a groomer and in doggy day-care in the years prior to joining the DVH family.

Alongside her vet nursing career, Claudia also owns and operates her very own mobile grooming service Pets of Paws, which she describes as a dog washing glamour parlour! If not busy enough she also runs her own infant animal rescue organisation which has led to the rehoming of over 300 infant animals.

Claudia has special interests in Animal Science to hopefully become a vet one day.

She and her partner have 2 dogs, Shadow the rotti x kelpie and Zeus, her blue-nose pitty. She also has 3 cats – Tex, Melia and Lizzie.

Claudia’s favourite activities include playing with her pets (obviously), operating and growing her grooming business, animal rescue fundraising, and writing her very own book based on her business experiences.

Claudia has a massive love for animals and adores caring for the patients that come through Duncraig Vet's doors, showering them with plenty of cuddles and affection while they are in our care.

Sharon has at home Archie - Chocolate Burmese Jackson - Dark Burmese Brittney Guinea Pig and Chocci - Guinnea Pig

She also has 2 children.

Cara

Registered Veterinary Nurse (Cert IV Veterinary Nursing)

Cara graduated as a veterinary nurse in 2020.  She also holds a Cert II in Animal Studies and Cert IV in Captive Animals at Perth Zoo, having a strong passion for wildlife in addition to domestic species.

Cara joined the DVH team in 2021, where she enjoys the majority of her role as surgical nurse. Cara is passionate about patient comfort and providing a minimal stress environment, and seeks to do all she can to minimise fear and anxiety and help her patients feel as safe and snug as possible - this includes offering as many cuddles as they need!

Her special interests include care of senior patients, particularly as she has an older dog she cares for at home. In her opinion, geriatric animals are the most charismatic patients she has the pleasure of caring for and they never fail to make her laugh.

Outside of work Cara enjoys nature-based activities, surfing, diving and horse riding. Above all, she treasures spending time with her beautiful 17 year old dog, Wags (pictured in her profile photo). Cara has had Wags since 2006 and was named in honour of 'Wags the dog' from her favourite childhood TV show, The Wiggles. Cara credits Wags with teaching her many lessons about the stages of a dog's life and how to provide optimal care throughout a pet's lifetime - she feels very lucky to have had Wags as her teacher.
