Puppy Pre-school

There are many benefits to teaching your puppy to be well behaved at an early age. Puppies develop their social skills between the age of 8-16 weeks. Puppy Preschool is designed to use this window period in your puppy's life to start their progression to ensure he or she becomes a polite and well behaved canine citizen.

Young puppies are quite able to learn obedience skills, toileting behaviour and social boundaries. All of these things help make your relationship with your dog more rewarding for the years to come. A lack of socialisation in the early period of a dogs life can lead to behavioural problems such as timidity and aggression later in life.

Puppy Preschool provides a place where we can address the socialisation needs of your puppy and help with any problems you may be encounter. The other benefit of Puppy Preschool is providing your puppy with some great memories and experiences at the Vet clinic. This is why we hold our classes in the reception areas & with our regular nursing staff members. The puppies we see for Puppy Preschool maintain a bond with our nurses and make a vet visit a lot more enjoyable. We have all seen that dog that "puts on the brakes" as it approaches the Vets door. Puppy Preschool will have your doggy stepping on the accelerator as he or she heads towards the Vets.

Our puppy preschool classes are very popular, we hold classes in our Wodonga clinic  - Melrose Animal Hospital on a Tuesday night 7.30pm to 8.30pm and classes in our Albury Clinic - Hume Animal Hospital on a Wednesday night 7.30pm to 8.30pm.

The most important thing about Puppy Pre-school is 'start early'. Waiting too long can allow behaviour problems to establish which then require more intensive training to overcome. Also be aware that this is pre-school, your pup won't know "everything" at the end of the course and ongoing training and re-enforcement is important, the 4 classes alone are not the only thing you need to do for full training.

You can book today, call us about enrolling your puppy in our local Puppy Pre-school classes. A new class starts the first week of every month, booking early is essential as classes fill up very quickly!
